The social and legal push for equality

After WWII in America, women began to campaign for their equality. Women had been working mens jobs during the war, and after realizing they were fully capable of doing mens work, they became not to fond of the idea of having to give their jobs back to men. Unfortunately though, "Once the war ended, they were unceremoniously fired and their jobs given to men returning from the war" (Tina Gianoulis).
